City-Link Express (M) Sdn Bhd is a household name as it is the
first and oldest licensed local courier company in Malaysia.
With more than 100 stations in Malaysia, and with staff of more
than 1,400, it is also one of the largest locally-owned courier
companies.
It has offices in Hong Kong and Singapore and has representative
offices in the Philippines, Taiwan, Brunei, Indonesia, Sri
Lanka, Myanmar, Vietnam and South Korea.
This makes it the only Malaysian courier company to have an
international network with so many countries. Founded 26 years
ago, it also claims to be Malaysia’s most successful
privately-owned courier company.
According to David Tan Ah Ba, founder and CEO of City-Link, the
City-Link group had two subsidiary companies and one associate
company under the holding company, City-Link Holdings Sdn Bhd.
“Our mission is to be a service oriented organisation that adds
value to the services and products of our customers.
“At City-Link we live by the rule of quality services:
reliability
“City-Link is committed to delivering the best service to our
customers as exemplified by our motto: You take a rest, we do
the rest, delivering the best.” Tan said.
Deputy chief executive officer and Director Ng Chet Chiang said
it offered door-to-door courier services that enabled clients to
courier their consignments even to rural areas.
“Besides door-to-door delivery (including air and sea freight),
we provide express delivery of documents and parcels,
warehousing, fulfillment – involving picking, packing and
shipping of goods – supply chain management, corporate mailroom
management and prepaid products for documents and packages.
“We offer flexibility in that we can tailor these services to
customer’s needs, requirements and budgets.”
“We have also been in the industry for more than 20 years. This
says a lot about our commitment to provide services to our
customers.
“In fact, in the market of international and domestic users,
we have a reputation for being reliable, fast and economical."

our customers as exemplified in our motto: ‘You take a rest, we
do the rest and delivering the best". -Tan
“In addition, our staff and management are dedicated to
maintaining high standards of services and professionalism,” Ng
added.
Its investment in human resources and information technology
also give it an edge over its competitors.
“What we are excited about is our latest project, an IT
infrastructure or IT network, working on the foundation of the
ASP (application service provider) concept.
“We have invested a lot of resources to make City-Link an
ICT-based company that meets the needs of globalisation.”
It toes the line in terms of the way of doing business, which
depends more on Internet-enabled services when it comes to
e-commerce, delivery on time and the cycle time for on-time
delivery.
“These are the areas where the courier service plays a very
important role, and we believe that City-Link has a lot of
potential in this respect, especially once we get the ASP system
ready. |
