DISTRIBUTION and logistics services company City-Link
Express (M) Sdn. Bhd expects its newly launched courier
services system, called e-globalLINK, to play a key role in
growing its business both locally and globally.
Its deputy cheir executive officer and director Ng Chet
Chiang said the company is projecting a 20 per cent increase
in sales turnover as City-Link would be able to create and
offer more services, particularly in warehouse management,
with the system implemented.
"E-globalLINK, which is based on the application service
provider (ASP) concept, is more than a track-and-trace
system that is common among courier companies. With it as a
backbone, all our 100 stations throughout the country as
well as regional offices are linked up to the headquarters
in Shah Alam via a dial-up connection enabling data transfer
into any other system and platform, promoting greater
transparency and business efficiency," he said in Subang
Jaya.
City-Link has spent RM 3 million on the solution which it
co-developed with its technology partner Synervision Sdn
Bhd. The system comprises of Oracle 9i database engine, Sun
Microsystem computers and a server at the company's Internet
centre allowing City-Link personnel to access information.
In terms of applications, Ng said e-globalLINK is actually a
total supply chain management system consisting of an
enterprise resource planning system, which connects
front-to-back-end systems, among others. |
