CITY-LINK Express (M) Sdn Bhd, a home-grown courier service
provider, has launched e-globalLINK, a total logistics
solution using a singular platform to network with its
branch offices and also offices abroad.
The computing software based on the Applications Service
Provider (ASP) concept anticitpates Internet-centric
applications and complements the drive towards e-business.
“It will be the choice platform for business transactions as
it houses full components of e-warehouse, e-procurement,
e-distribution and e-fulfillment. Consequently, our
customers are able to track and trace, in real-time, the
movement of their consignments via the Internet,” said Ng
Chet Chiang, the chief finance and information office of
City-Link Express, after the launch of e-globalLINK in
Subang Jaya last week.
Ng was quick to point out that e-globalLINK was no ordinary
track-and-trace solution as it was developed based on the
company’s vast experience in the courier business made
possible by the popular Oracle 9i database engine.
“The e-globalLINK solution is what is known as ERP
(Enterprise Resource Planning), providing solutions from the
front-end right to the back-end,” said Ng. “A CRM (Customer
Relationship Management) solution is also part of the
e-globalLINK solution.”
Ng said although there were other similar solutions adopted
by courier companies, he was confident that e-globalLINK
would prove to be among the best as it was developed with
the cooperation of techonology partners Synervision Sdn Bhd
and Oracle Corporation.
City-Link Express, established 21 years ago, currently has a
network of about 100 offices in South-East Asian and a staff
of over 2,000. It handles a daily shipment of more than
30,000 packages. |
