CITY-LINK Express (M) Sdn Bhd, a homegrown company with 21
years’ experience in the courier service industry, expects
its e-globalLINK integrated software system to boost sales
by 20% to RM 72 mil in the current financial year ending Dec
31.
According to its chief executive officer David Tan, the
company has invested RM 3 mil to develop the e-globalLINK
system, which also encompasses front-end operations,
e-warehousing, e-procurement and e-distribution, jointly
with software partner Synervision Sdn Bhd under a 40:60
joint-venture agreement.
“City-Link’s e-globalLINK will contribute significantly to
the development of the global IT industry, the multimedia
community and especially the express distribution industry,”
said Tan.
He said that the company would initially focus on
implementing the system in Malaysia and its operations
overseas before mekting it ot other companies or
organizations in the region.
He told reporters after the launch og e-globalLINK in Subang
Jaya yesterday that the system was not only able to track
and trace consignments at any point in time in the
distribution chain but also inform customers of the reason
for delay, if any.
“The system also allows the management to assess the
performance of the business in real time,” Tan said, adding
that the company’s 2,000-plus employees could access
information online to improve parcel delivery time.
According to Tan, the-e-glbalLINK system would be
simultaneously implemented in the company’s network of about
100 stations throughout the country and offices in
Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam.
He said the company hoped to franchise the system to other
organizations or companies in one to two years.
“Our objective in the long run is to use the system to
network to all cities, business associates, members, users
and customers, anywhere, at anytime,” he added.
City-Link is said to have a 10% to 12% share of the courier
services industry and delivers more than 30,000 parcels
daily. |
