CITY-LINK Express (M) Sdn Bhd, a courier service company,
expects sales to grow by 20 per cent with its “e” way of
doing business on the Internet via e-globalLINK.
Deputy chief executive officer Ng Chet Chiang said yesterday
the company, which reported sales of RM 60 million for its
Malaysian operations last year, had investor over RM 3
million for this new application.
City-Link now has a fully integrated courier services system
based on the Application Service Provider (ASP) concept, the
first in the country.
“e-globalLINK provides 24-hour service to customers,
including track and trace of delivery, warehousing, managing
stock inventory, packaging and preparing shipping
instructions, conducting and monitoring the delivery of
goods,” Ng said.
With the launch of e-globalLINK by Energy, Communications
and Multimedia Deputy Minister Datuk Tan Chai Ho in Petaling
Jaya, City-Link’s offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand
and Vietnam will go online by using the e-commerce module.
Ng said the company plans to open offices in other Asian
countries in the near future.
City-Link has a network of about 100 stations throughout the
country and South-East Asian and more than 2,000
services-oriented staff. The company
handles more than 30,000 packages daily.
Tan told reporters after the launch that the Government will
encourage courier companies to extend their services to
rural areas.
According to Tan, new courier licenses will only be given to
applicants willing to serve rural areas. |
